If you are looking for one of the best values on the market, then you need to pay attention to this SA Sports Ambush Crossbow Review. The Ambush outperforms almost any other crossbow in the same price range while weighing significantly less. You aren’t going to get much more out of any crossbow that costs less than $300, that’s for damn sure.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned hunter, this is going to be the best crossbow you can find without breaking the bank. It packs enough power to take down any medium sized game instantly. That is an impressive feat for an inexpensive crossbow that only has a draw weight of 150 lbs.

This is one of my favorite considerations for the best youth crossbow on the market if you ask me. It has enough power to keep them interested without overdoing it and becoming too dangerous. On top of the power, it has all the safety features that you could ask for while staying under the 8lb limit we recommend for a youth crossbow.

Power

As we motioned above, this is one of the most powerful crossbows for less than $300. Packing a velocity of 285 Feet Per Second at the optimal target distance is very respectable.  That is enough power to take down a deer or anything else you might want to hunt in North America.

At the same time, its not so powerful that it is going to affect your accuracy. The Ambush has just the right amount of punch to be powerful and accurate, the deadliest combination you can find while hunting.

Durability

SA Sports Ambush partsDurability is very important when you are looking to purchase a crossbow. You need to make sure that your product is going to last and make sure that it will not fall apart when you least expect it. The Ambush is made from a lot of high quality parts so that it will stay with you for many years if you take good care of it.

One of the first things I noticed about the Ambush is that they did not sacrifice durability to end up with a lightweight product. The wheels are precision-machined from aluminum, as high quality as you can get. The limbs are all constructed from fiberglass, but the barrel and riser are also made from aluminum to make sure they are durable while still being lightweight.

Mobility

At 6.5lbs, this is one of the lightest crossbows in any price range. At this weight, you could carry this crossbow all day without even noticing that it is still there. Use the included adjustable sling to sit properly on your back and this might be the most mobile crossbow on the market!

Safety

Safety is arguably the most important factor on this list, remembering that a crossbow is a weapon. If you find a crossbow that is not safe, you should get as far away from it as possible before it hurts you or someone else. SA Sports does a great job to make sure that their crossbows are as safe as they can possibly make them and they stuck to that while designing the Ambush.

One of the most noticeable safety features on this crossbow is the ambidextrous safety device. This is a huge improvement for left-handed firers. Most crossbows were not built with them in mind, making them make take extra steps before they can fire at the target. Making it easier for them ensures that they don’t skip those safety steps all together for lack of convenience.

Value

I will finish this review of the SA Sports Ambush off how it started, by talking about how great of a value it is. You are not going to find a crossbow that outperforms the Ambush in this price range. By default, that makes this one of the best values in the crossbow industry.
